Te Manawa Family Services in Feilding looked to create a new youth led organisation when the Ministry of Social Development established Te Punanga Haumaru back in 2014– an agency developed to support community organisations and projects that look at bullying and how communities can overcome it.
ICan was created and now operates under Te Manawa Family Services with a project coordinator and youth from primary, intermediate and high schools around the Feilding region.
Ican is a youth focused group with approximately 25 students aged 9-16. We get together to co-ordinate and undertake community projects that promotes kindness, anti-bullying and supporting one another.
Check out the Projects we’ve done or what we are up to now to see more of what we are about.
We always welcome new people who want to be involved in Ican, it is a great way to meet new people, practice leadership and give back to the community. If you’re interested in being involved message us through the contact page or contact Amy at firstname.lastname@example.org
We are very fortunate to be supported by our community and are building great partnerships in working together to tackle the issues around bullying.
Many thanks to Manawatu District Council for supporting iCan and Te Manawa Family Services to continue the work we’re doing in our community.
